The “Gentle” Souls In The Tough Sports

When we talk about sports we imagine a  lot of muscles, sweat, aggression, motivation… things we can’t call gentle, can we? Especially when it comes to men and “tough” sports like football, basketball, wrestling, boxing, baseball, rugby. There, people fight, kick each other, wrestle, sweat a lot… wohoho a complete mess, right? But there is also a tenderer side of the game. Take a look at those men who have announced publicly they are gays while still playing. Pretty courageous…

1.Thomas Hitzlsperger - football

Totally a shock, one of the few people in the professional football to announce he’s gay. He really made the whole guild to explode. Besides, he is the first German footballer to announce this. He is the most high profile footballer to come out as gay. Ronaldo makes the girl’s hearts to jump, throb, now gays have their choice. An action to admire.

2.Jason Collins – basketball

Huge, tall, tough black man who is an NBA basketball center. Who could imagine that he would admit he was gay? I will just skip Obama’s speech about him, how proud he was and so on… I want to say that Collins is the first openly gay athlete who takes part in a team sport in the USA. Basketball is really a tough sport, so you must have balls to announce “I have a gentle soul”.

 

3.Orlando Cruz – boxing

Nooooo... you say, yes is my answer. Even in the professional boxing, there is one who broke the rules. He is the first openly gay active fighter. It’s interesting what he said when he came out as gay in 2012 - "I have and will always be a proud Puerto Rican. I have always been and always will be a proud gay man. “ That’s what I’m talking about, be proud of yourself!

4.Ian Roberts – rugby

Here come Australia and one of the toughest, maybe the toughest sports of all. This is no place for tender dudes, all you need is a lot of muscles, strength, speed… this dude has all of them plus one more – “gentle” soul. He was the first openly gay in Australia’s rugby history. Brave one, don’t you think. Surprisingly, he was supported by many of the people, including teammates… and he made his “confession” in the distant 1996 when gay sportsmen had been a fiction.

5.Darren Young – WWE

Yeah, after football, basketball, boxing, rugby it comes wrestling. This is one of the most powerful “Coming outs” of the world. But, guys he is not the first one in WWE. Chris Canyon and Orlando  Jordan both came out as either gay (the first) or bisexual (the second). What is the unique thing, then? Darren was the first openly gay while he still signed for a major promotion. The others announced their sexuality  when they solemnly retired.

Every Day

Yes, every day is so wonderful or not so wonderful, or even awful or even a catastrophe. But this is no reason to stop doing things every day, in order to feel better, to feel human, to feel selfish. Here are some thoughts arranged as a list, things or activities you could try to do every single day of your life. It could help, why don’t you try?

Every day... 

… wake up and feel blessed that you didn’t die in your last sleep (yeah, people die while they are sleeping) and you still can move your fingers and toes...well men could possibly try to move something else.

… go to the “special” place and relieve yourself from the liquid, and a smile - a huge one.

… brush your teeth, the feeling is great when you feel them as shiny and clean as they are after the toothpaste did its work.

… hm, think and excite about something the day is going to give you - it’s in front of you and anything great could possibly happen.

…  enjoy the breakfast, feel the proteins and carbohydrates filling out your hungry body. And think about this: “I have food, many people don’t!”

… help someone on the street or on the bus, or anywhere else, just to see the face telling you “Thank you!”And the ray of pure positive energy.

… do the thing you most enjoy, no matter if it is: cooking, playing football with the guys, going out for a walk, play with your dog, drinking beer in the park or anything. I’m sure YOU have something that’s right in your heart and makes you every time you do it, happy!

… dream, dream, dream… there are no restrictions  for dreaming yet, so take advantage of it. Dream of your future life, your future job, your future home, your future travel, your future world.

… if you love sweet things, then you should absolutely have one every single day and after eating it make this sound “Mmmmmm”… great, isn’t it?

… tired, bored and with a desire to sleep, go to bed and relax your body… relieve yourself from the pain, the negative energy and tiredness captured the whole day.

… before you fall asleep keep saying “Tomorrow will be a better day!” 

Just enjoy life

And… and… and many other things: for some it could be a date, a prayer, a cigarette on the balcony, a movie before going to bed or in the bed, eating pasta or spaghetti, or dog  meat (  don’t laugh or disgust, Vietnamese love dog meat)… or ANYTHING. The only thing that really matters is to enjoy it and to do it every day. Then you won’t have the right to say “What an awful day!”

So, lighten up – the world is not the best place to live in nor the worst!

Волен е наистина достоен!

от нашия герой,  враг на империализма.

Но, как ли да опиша последния му подвиг?

Аз съм клето робче, думи нямам аз за вожда.

Край самолета, плясна по лицето гордото Франсе,

„ Аз съм българче, туй да не е ваша подлога, бе, прасе!“

Волене, вожде, боже на небесата!

Казват „Болен си“, недостойните...

Бди все така над дома, над страната,

и все тъй гордо участвай  във тройките!

Тройната прераства в тройка...
